Reward Offered in Search for Sheep Poachers

A $10,000 bounty is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the poacher(s) that illegally killed a California Bighorn Sheep some time prior to January 20, 2007 East of the Owyhee Reservoir in the Long Gulch Area of Malheur County, Oregon.

The reward is being sponsored by various conservation organizations, including FNAWS.

    More Information:

  • Sheep killed somewhere between Jan. 18-20th.
  • Carcass was found by Bobcat Hunters, on the high road above Leslie Gulch, boat ramp, before you start down the grade to the lake.
  • The site was contaimenated by birds and hunters before the OSP Trooper and his team arrived.
  • They need to the first tip--for the investigation to move forward.
  • Idaho lab to do a sexing test and gather DNA from the carcass this week.
